Rahi Accelerates their Purchase Order Process with Osmos Pipelines

For some organizations, data ingestion can be a tough and painful process. What we call the “first-mile” problem of data hinders growth and is operationally very expensive, not to mention inefficient.

Rahi, a data center supply chain and logistics solutions provider, delivers global solutions and services for customers that maximize the performance, scalability, and efficiency of today’s complex business environments. Their team has deep expertise in data center infrastructure, compute, storage, networking, and security technologies, as well as end-user computing, A/V, and cloud solutions. Founded in 2012 by entrepreneurs with a deep understanding of the needs of global enterprises, the company has grown through a solutions-oriented approach focused on outstanding support and a culture of customer success.

One of Rahi’s core value propositions is to help their customers scale faster by improving supply chain efficiencies. From setting up cloud-scale data centers to designing and implementing collaborative meeting spaces, Rahi takes care of architectural design, procurement, warehousing, deployment, and managed support services. Providing this level of end-to-service comes with a high degree of complexity.

Ingesting external data is a painful process

Rahi not only needs to respond to customer orders at lightning speed, but they also need to work across hundreds of distributors, manufacturers, and logistics providers to consolidate, procure, and deliver their services under tight SLAs. Their delivery model relies on a very efficient data-sharing infrastructure powering their business relationships with customers, distributors, and channels.

For complex organizations like Rahi, seamlessly ingesting data from distributors and partners into operational systems is mission-critical. At the same time, data ingestion is often overlooked as a factor contributing to stifled growth. It’s a problem that is ubiquitous, persistent, and must be immediately addressed.

Before their Osmos journey, Rahi experienced a number of challenges when receiving complex customer purchase orders (PO). The data in the POs wasn’t organized and came in different formats. Much of the data had to be manually verified against multiple ERP systems before finally loading the order into their management systems.

This process took multiple sales team members about half a day every day to clean, format, and import the data records. That’s over 60 hours a week spent wrangling and importing customer data. This tedious process resulted in longer fulfillment times and a suboptimal procurement experience.

How Rahi automated away hundreds of hours of manual work

Rahi leveraged Osmos Pipelines to accelerate the purchase order process. Their engineering team was able to quickly build streamlined data pipelines, automating two painful processes without writing a line of code.

Osmos pipelines. Automate the cleaning and importing of data into your operational systems.

First, instead of the sales team manually verifying and cleaning the data, they used Osmos’ AI-powered data transformations to validate, clean up, and restructure the messy PO data to fit their Netsuite schema and format. This freed up resources and accelerated data ingestion.

Next, they scheduled the data pipeline to automatically import the clean PO data directly into their ERP system.  Using a built-in exception management feedback loop, their teams get notified, resolve errors, and easily maintain transformations.

Osmos is a strategic enabler for Rahi

Quote from Rahi CTO Matt Robinson, "Osmos is a strategic enabler of our global platform, making it easier to bring solutions to our customers, partners, and distributors."

Rahi CTO, Matt Robinson, now sees Osmos Pipelines as “a strategic enabler of our global platform, making it easier to bring solutions to our customers, partners, and distributors."

Here are three reasons why.

  1. Osmos reduces manual labor and data inaccuracies - Osmos Pipelines automates the cleaning and importing of data, which solves resource availability by saving time for customer-facing teams.
"Osmos saved us over 60% on delivery costs with our largest clients by simply removing tedious copy-paste and manual data wrangling activities.”
  2. Osmos accelerates time to value for our customers - Lead time is imperative. Now, their teams can quickly identify the incoming order requests and find the updates (generations) and changes (revisioning) to products.
“The more time our teams spend on data processing the less time they spend on finding the best supply chain availability for our customers.”
  3. Streamlined implementation reduces training processes - Their engineering team had Osmos Pipelines up and running in no time. The intuitive UI made it easy for non-technical team members to jump in and learn the processes they needed to independently clean and ingest customer data as it arrived.
